Manfred Spiering

Artistic Director
Basement Salon, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell

Classically trained Munich hairstylist Manfred Spiering brings 30 years of experience to Basement Salon’s affluent and discriminate clientele who enjoy the privilege of his professionalizing every single service, and his instinctual talent for styling and restyling his clients with statement cuts and color treatments that are so effortless. He not only captures each client’s personality, but with his expert “wash & wear” hairstyling, Manfred reinforces and reinvents their look, with sophistication. The result is individuality and beauty that is practical and simple.

Trained in the early 80′s in Munich under the former Artistic Director of Vidal Sassoon, Helmuth Bloechl in his Salon, Shape, Manfred has since carried the art of hair design and the discipline of tailoring each client’s look, considering each individual’s features and needs when conceiving their cut and color. By 1985, he opened the salon Projekt in Munich, known as one of the most outstanding Avant-garde salons in Germany, designed by renowned Austrian artist and set designer, Wolfgang Flatz.

On a trip to Boracay in February 1994, he met Fritz Webb, and together, they envisioned a promising opportunity for Manfred to practice his profession in Manila, and as partners, to establish what has become the country’s leading salon. They opened the doors of their first branch in December 1995 at the Colonnade Building on C. Palanca Street in Legaspi Village, Makati to bevy of stylish patrons who remain loyal customers and friends.

Born out of a handshake between two friends on the island of Boracay, Basement Salon has grown into the salon of choice for people who are looking to have the best in hairdressing, in the hands of Manfred Spiering.
